Delaware #204 - Delaware was picked up on Kenny Nelson Rd on 7/21/16. He is neutered American Bulldog mix. He was very underweight when he came in, but has since gained and currently weighs a healthy 46 pounds. He is going on 5 years old. He is sweet and loves attention and petting. He is doing well and is a real love bug, giving hugs when he comes out of his kennel to greet you. He needs to be the only dog in a home with no other dogs involved. He absolutely loves people and wants to be your one and only companion. This sweetheart needs a home of his own! He was adopted out the end of February, but the new owner failed to keep him up, placed him in a crate with another dog where he immediately fought, and then dumped him in a nearby shelter. He is back to his old loving self now and we absolutely adore him. He will ONLY be adopted to an approved, references, and home check visit home.

Tar Heel #243 - Tar Heel is a female lab mix found as a stray on Nashville Highway in Chapel Hill. She is friendly and has gotten better with strangers not being as afraid of them anymore. High energy and a barker! Came in with the male black lab Hawkeye so she may be related to him. She will try another dog male or female so she is very alpha and needs to either go to a monitored no dog home or to rescue where she can be further evaluated and more slowly introduced to other dogs. A high energy environment like the shelter only aggravates her already heightened energy so she is our shelter tornado for the moment! She is very smart and will try to sit for a food bowl but her energy won’t let her. She does know kennel on command and so has a high drive and is food and treat motivated. Lots of potential for this girl in the right setting! She weighs 46 pounds and is microchipped and heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is sponsored so she is $5 to an approved adopter or rescue. If both her and Hawkeye are rescued/adopted together their fee is only $10 together. We would love for them to go together as they appear to still be bonded.

Hawkeye #244 - Hawkeye is a male lab mix found as a stray on Nashville Highway in Chapel Hill. He is very friendly and outgoing and has gotten much better since his neuter. He will still go at a male dog but he loves to play and romp with the non alpha females. High energy and a barker! He needs room to run and a family to help him spend alot of that energy! Very smart and highly food and treat motivated, this guy has alot of potential. He weighs 57 pounds, is around 1 ˝ years old, and is heartworm negative and microchipped. His adoption fee is $5 since he has a sponsor and will need to go to an approved home.

Delilah #318 - Delilah is a female lab/hound mix found as a stray on Water Street on 12-2. She is super sweet and appears to be housebroken. She has been alpha toward some of the other dogs, and it appears more she is protective of whatever human she is around. She needs to go to a no dog home or be well supervised. She was wearing a collar. She is fully vetted, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She weighs 57 pounds and is around 2 ˝ years old. She has been fine with the cats here, however when a potential adopter took her home she went after one of their outdoor cats according to them. Since we have no confirmation of this we are stating that an adopter with cats would need to monitor her. She is fine with the ones here even when loose up front. Her adoption fee is $5 to an approved home as she has a sponsor for the rest.

Gaelic #78 - Gaelic is a male American Bulldog mix found as a stray at Westhills School. He was hanging around the school either waiting on someone there or he had been wandering through the area as a stray. He is good natured and a happy go lucky boy now. He was wearing a blue thick and he weighs 47 pounds and is around a year old. He is fully vetted and heartworm negative and microchipped. He needs to be the ONLY dog in your home as he is very possessive of his toys and food. His adoption fee is $75.

Burdock #115 - Burdock is a male adult shepherd mix found as a stray on Lynnville Hwy. He is around 2 1/2 years old. He weighs 57 pounds and appears to be housebroken. He has been neutered and microchipped, and tested heartworm positive. He is on a slow kill heartworm method here at the shelter and any medications will be sent with him upon adoption. He came in with a small female dog and may be good with another similar dog, just not a big challenging dog.

Basil #118 - Basil is an adult male american bulldog mix found as a stray on Highland Avenue. He is good natured but the lady who found him said he tore a hole in her garage door trying to get out. As he was found during the storms he may be storm shy so we will continue evaluating him here at the shelter. He is neutered and is heartworm negative and microchipped. He weighs 43 pounds and is around 2 ˝ years old. He is all male and not good with male dogs. When out with the females and non alphas he has done great.

Aladdin #225 – Aladdin is a male blue brindle pit bull found as a stray on Milltown Road. He weighs 72 pounds and is a big baby. He can open a gate so we have him listed as an escape artist! His owner came forward but never came to claim him so he is up for adoption. He has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative, and is microchipped.

Star #241 - Star is a female Lab possibly American Bulldog mix found as a stray on Underpass Road in Cornersville. She is very friendly and was good with the woman’s kids who found her. She is a tad bit shy but quickly comes around. She weighs 36 pounds. She has been fully vetted, is microchipped, but did test positive for heartworms so we are using the slow kill method on her currently at the shelter.

Rocket #245 - Rocket is a male pitbull mix found as a stray on Davis Street. He is brown in color and was wearing a collar with a lock on it. He is very much improved now on weight up to 53 pounds and has really come around so he is available to adopt or rescue. He has been fully vetted and is heartworm negative and microchipped.

Jupiter #257 - Jupiter was picked up on Nashville Hwy on 8-17-17. He is coming around but still growls when we try to pet him. We will let him settle down and work on his confidence. He will be available for rescue on 8-22-17.

Solar #266 - Solar is a male terrier mix, weighing 13 pounds, found as a stray on Wallace Thompson Road. He is very timid and scared right now and we are not able to handle him at all. He will be rescue only until we can further evaluate him. He growls when you approach him so we are letting him settle in. He will be available to rescue only on 8-26.

Lunar #273 - Lunar is a male Great Pyrenees found as a stray on Mooresville Hwy down in the Mooresville area close to Bear Creek Road. He is very sweet and well kept. He was wearing a collar and flea collar and is on owner hold until 9-5. Since we do not know how our Great Pyrenees are with livestock we will not adopt out any of our Pyrenees as Livestock Guard Dogs. No exceptions. Lunar will be neutered before leaving our facility and will be available to rescue or for adoption on 9-5.

Celeste #274 – Celeste is a female red merle coonhound mix found running loose on Patrick Drive. Her owner has been contacted and has yet to come forward to claim her. She is on stray hold and will be available on 8-29 for adoption or rescue. She will be vetted on 8-30 and her adoption fee will then be $75.
