Ombudsman volunteers needed

Thursday, September 14, 2017

The South Central Tn Development Districtís Long-Term Care Ombudsman program advocates for rights of residents in nursing homes, assisted livings and homes for the aged in the South Central 13-county district. With more than 60 long-term care facilities in this district we certainly are in need of volunteers to visit residents and listen to them, monitor conditions, report issues to the District Ombudsman on a monthly basis, educate staff, residents, and visitors of the facility about the Ombudsman program as well as helping residents with any problems or issues that may arise while living in a long-term care facility.

The program is having a two-day training event Sept. 26 and 27 (Tuesday and Wednesday) for persons interested in becoming a new Ombudsman Volunteer. Applicants must pass a background check and attend this two-day training in order to be a part of this rewarding program. The training will be held at the South Central Tennessee Development District Office at 101 Sam Watkins Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, Tn.
