FSA acreage reporting deadlines soon
(Lewisburg, TN) October 3, 2017 Marshall/Bedford/Moore County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director William Barnes reminds producers of the November 15, 2017, acreage reporting deadline for all crop year 2018 hay and pasture, as well as the December 15, 2017, date for all fall-seeded small grains (wheat, oats, etc).
In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements and avoid late file fees, all producers are encouraged to visit the Marshall/Bedford/Moore County FSA office to file an accurate, timely crop certification report, said Barnes.
The following acreage reporting dates apply for producers in Marshall, Bedford, and Moore Counties:
November 15, 2017: Hay and Pasture (All cool-season grasses and perennial grasses/forages);
December 15, 2017: Wheat, Oats, Barley (Any fall-seeded small grain crop).
The following exceptions apply to the above acreage reporting dates:
If the crop has not been planted by the acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 15 calendar days after planting is completed.
If a producer acquires additional acreage after the acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 30 calendars days after purchase or acquiring the lease. Appropriate documentation must be provided to the county office.
According to Barnes, filing timely acreage certifications with FSA establishes eligibility for programs including: Marketing Assistance Loans (MAL), Loan Deficiency Payments (LDP), Livestock Forage Program (LFP), Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) & Price Loss Coverage (PLC), Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and others.
