LDA offers community, entertainment downtown
If you’ve ever thought it’d be nice to have a drink and listen to some music on the square, the Lewisburg Downtown Alliance is trying to make that dream a reality for you.
The LDA announced a series of monthly “meet and greets” designed to keep the downtown area central in the minds of Lewisburg residents.
“The purpose is two-fold,” said LDA President Wayne Glenn. “We want to help build community and spur ideas on stimulating activity on the square.”
Starting Thursday, Oct. 19, the group will offer drinks and entertainment as a sample of what downtown Lewisburg is missing.
Craft beer and wines are on offer, along with snacks.
Local musician David Liggett will be performing at each event with additional musicians sitting in with him as their schedules allow.
The meet-ups will take place upstairs at the Purple Elephant Coffee Shop on the square.
“It’s going to be an evolving thing,” said Glenn, saying that the format or direction of the events would be driven by feedback from attendees.
The LDA is a registered 501C-3 non-profit and donations will be accepted to cover costs.
Other evening events will take place on Nov. 9 and on Dec. 14.
