William Ewell "Billy" Willis
William Ewell “Billy” Willis, 91 of Belfast, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, in NHC Lewisburg Healthcare.
Mr. Willis was a native of Belfast, TN, born on Dec. 21, 1925, son of William Esmond and Julia Emmaline Glenn Willis. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in France and Germany. He was a lifelong farmer, hunter, fisherman and a member of Church Street Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Willis and sister, Mary Neil Vaughn. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Alice Murriel Beatty Willis of Belfast; daughter, Linda Murriel (Gene) Clanton of the Wheel Community; two sons, Bobby Willis of Belfast and Roston Glenn (Patty) Willis of Lewisburg; three sisters, Julia Dean Woodward of Lewisburg, Knoxie Crocker of Guyton, GA, and Margaret Willis of Lewisburg; ten grandchildren, Billy Harmon, Brian Harmon, Bo Willis, Missy Blackburn, Margie Pen, Denise Hopper, Paul Gatlin, Josh Clanton, Micah KeKich, and Zach Owen.
Funeral services were conducted by Bill Tankersley on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home and burial followed in Head Springs Cemetery with military honors.
The family was at London Funeral Home Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour for visitation.
Serving as pallbearers were Billy Harmon, Brian Harmon, Ray Beatty, W.D. Woodward, David Vaughn and Billy Willis. Honorary bearers were Jacky Hawkins, Bill Church, and R. E. Woodward.
London Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
