Belfast Baptist to celebrate “Homecoming @ Belfast” Sunday
The music and spirit of the Christmas season will fill the air at Belfast Baptist Church on Sunday, December 3, as the church celebrates its annual “Homecoming @ Belfast” service. A special morning service will begin at 10:45 a.m. and will feature a mini-concert by legendary Nashville singer/songwriter Bernie Nelson.
The church is located at 1503 Fishing Ford Road in Belfast. The public is invited to attend and will be welcomed.
Following the morning service, the congregation and visitors will gather in the church’s fellowship building for the church’s annual Thanksgiving/Christmas meal which will be provided by the church and its members. Following the meal, members and visitors will gather in the sanctuary at 1:15 p.m. for a special Christmas concert featuring Nelson and The Mathis Brothers of Spring Hill, TN.
“We are very excited about this upcoming service,” said Daniel Johnson, who is the church’s pastor. “Bernie is a great songwriter who has had a lot of hits recorded by various artists in Country and Gospel music. But, most importantly, he is a great Christian man who is always willing to share his faith wherever he goes.
“On top of that, the Mathis Brothers are a talented group in their own right. They come from a great Gospel and Country musical heritage through their dad (Country Johnny Mathis). Couple the music with the food and presence of the Lord, I believe we are going to have a tremendous service and day,” he said.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to have these talented artists to be with us at our “Homecoming @ Belfast” day,” Johnson said. “We will certainly welcome everyone who comes; and we will feed them well – both physically and spiritually.”
