Lewisburg’s Michael V. Tankersley honored as Appraisal Institute’s ‘Volunteer of Distinction’
CHICAGO (Jan. 3, 2018) – Michael V. Tankersley, MAI, SRA, AI-RRS, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, was recognized today as an Appraisal Institute fourth quarter “Volunteer of Distinction” for Region IX.
The Appraisal Institute is the nation’s largest professional association of real estate appraisers; Region IX consists of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee. Tankersley is a member of the Greater Tennessee Chapter.
“Mike Tankersley has been a great contributor to the Appraisal Institute,” said Appraisal Institute President James L. Murrett, MAI, SRA. “We are grateful for the time, effort and talent of volunteers like Mike who have devoted themselves to the betterment of our organization, the valuation profession and their local communities.”
Tankersley has served on the national Board of Directors since 2016; as the Region IX financial officer since 2016 and on the Education Committee since 2015. He was chair of the Leadership Development Advisory Council conference in 2015; vice chair in 2014; discussion leader in 2013 and a participant from 2010-12. He also served on the national University Relations Panel in 2014. He previously served on the Greater Tennessee Chapter’s Committee Structure Project Team in 2016; as chair of the Education Committee from 2014-16; regional representative from 2014-15; Education Committee member from 2012-13 and Board of Directors from 2012-14.
Tankersley was a reviewer for the Appraisal Institute’s “Supervisor Appraiser/Trainee Appraiser” course, and a contributor to the “Rural Property Valuation” book.
He joined the Appraisal Institute in 1999, received his MAI and SRA designations in 2008 and his AI-RRS designation in 2015.
Tankersley has been the owner of Tankersley Appraisal in Lewisburg, Tennessee, since 1997, and has been in the valuation profession for 22 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
