James Jackson "Jack" Miller
James Jackson “Jack” Miller died Jan. 13, 2018. He was born on Feb. 7, 1938. He was the son of the late Howard Marshall Miller and Martha Helen Bills Miller, formerly of the Verona community and was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Miller Haynes.
Jack is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Patricia Ann Daniel Miller of Lewisburg; two daughters, Dawn (David) Wright of Brentwood, TN, Misti (Joe) Tant of Lewisburg, TN; and one son, Marshall (Jessica) Miller of Lewisburg, TN. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Katherine Wright, Forrest Wright, Jesse Jackson, Hunt Jackson, Brax Hunter and Adie Rae Miller.
Jack was a member of the Berea Church of Christ in the Verona community. He attended church there all of his life. He also attended Church Street Church of Christ on Wednesday and Sunday nights for fifty-two years.
He was employed by the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation for 43 years in the position of Highway Maintenance Superintendent over Marshall, Lincoln, Bedford, Moore and Rutherford Counties.
Jack was co-owner for many years with Collins-Miller Insurance of Lewisburg, TN.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC in the 66th Engineer Corps.
Jack was an active member of the Lewisburg Lions Club for forty-six years and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2017.
Pallbearers will be Tony Ewing, Bill Derryberry, Leon Finley, Lewis Cope, Calvin Sharp and Dale Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Lewisburg Lions Club.
Funeral services will be conducted by Tony Lancaster and Wayne Daniel Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Berea Cemetery with military honors.
The family will be at London Funeral Home Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. for visitation.
