Fatal wreck Friday

A head-on collision on State Highway 64 claimed the life of a Bedford County man on Friday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigation, at approximately 5 p.m. at the intersection of Shelbyville Highway and Hunter Road, a westbound vehicle driven by James H. King, 40, of Culleoka, crossed the center line and struck the truck driven by Grady Lee Flippo, 52, of Wheel, head on.

Flippo died as a result of his injuries.

The road was closed during the investigation. It is not clear if icy road conditions might have contributed to the wreck.

King suffered injuries in the accident as well. The extent of those injuries was not disclosed.

Also injured in the wreck was Flippo’s passenger, Briana Prince, 19, of Culleoka.

According to the report, none of those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.

THP reported that criminal charges against King were pending.
