A Lewisburg man died early Saturday morning after an accident on I-65 in Brentwood.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Max Villafane, 28, was involved in a single car wreck at approximately 4 a.m. heading southbound on the interstate at the Moore’s Lane exit.

As a result, Villafane was laying in the roadway. One vehicle was able to swerve to avoid him, but another following vehicle was unable to avoid Villafane, striking him.

The driver of that vehicle, from West Virginia, was injured as well, and, at last report, THP did not plan on seeking any charges against the man.

Traffic on I-65 was reduced to one lane for several hours.

THP does not believe that a seat belt was in use during the initial wreck.
