CDC prepares for 20th annual benefit golf tournament

Friday, March 2, 2018

The members of the steering committee are in the process of preparing for the upcoming 20th Annual “Helping Hands Golf Classic” sponsored by Waste Management.

The “Helping Hands Golf Classic” is a long established annual springtime event for local and regional golfers. It will be held at Saddle Creek Golf Course on Thursday, May 10, 2018 with a 1:00 tee time. Waste Management is committed to being our annual corporate sponsor. Sponsorships are offered at six levels as well as team spots. There are still plenty of spots available at all levels. Join us for a great day of golf and to celebrate a milestone of this fundraising event.

“Big Hands Helping Little Hands” is the motto for this annual event. Since the golf tournament began in 1999, it has raised more than $650,000 for the Child Development Center. The CDC has served over 500 children over the last 19 years. The Marshall County CDC has been in Lewisburg since 1979.

The CDC is very fortunate to have a community of corporations, businesses, and individuals that are generous with their time and donations. We would like to say thank you to all the sponsors, donors and volunteers that make this tournament such a success each year. Many of whom have been with us since the very first tournament.

For over 35 years the Child Development Center has provided educational and early intervention services for children birth to 3 years of age who have developmental delays or a specific disability. Any child in Marshall County, who qualifies through the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS), is eligible for free services.

The Children’s Center for Autism also benefits from the “Helping Hands Golf Classic”. The CCA opened in February 2016 and is a very intensive behavioral therapy program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder ages 18 months to 5 years. The therapy services are fee based and are provided in the classroom at the Child Development Center. Behavior Consultation is also available for children ages 5 to 12 years.

If you would like information pertaining to the therapy program and the low cost applicable fees or if you think your child has any developmental concerns, you can refer your child by calling the CDC at 359-1197.

If you would like to sign-up for the 20th Annual “Helping Hands Golf Classic” as a sponsor, player or donor, you may also call us at the same number above.
