She was a faithful Christian and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was blessed with a gift of hospitality and homemaking. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sewing, gardening and quilt-making.

Mrs. Shearon was a daughter of the late Martha Ura Tankersley and Dave Dark. She was born on Dec. 21, 1919, “on the high side of the Duck River,” as she would say, in the Hardison’s Mill community, in Marshall County, TN. When her father died in 1932, Mrs. Shearon helped her mother manage their household and care for her younger brothers and sisters.

She married Richard Houston Shearon on Sept. 8, 1939. In 1941, they moved to the Richmond community in Bedford County, where they lived until her husband’s death in 1997. She moved to Shelbyville later that year and to Spring Hill in 2014.

As a young woman, she became a member of the Old Lasea Church of Christ in Pottsville, Tennessee. After her marriage, she became a member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ in Richmond, where her husband was an elder and song leader. She later became a member of the Fairlane Church of Christ in Shelbyville.

She began working at Fly Manufacturing in Shelbyville in 1959 and was an exemplary employee there for more than 20 years.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Arbors at Willow Springs for the loving and attentive care they provided Mrs. Shearon for the past four years.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by two sons, David Landis Shearon, of Jacksonville, FL and James Edward Shearon of Atlanta; two brothers, Hume Dark, of Nashville, and Ralph Dark of Tullahoma, TN; four sisters, Mary Payne Dark Smith of Tullahoma, TN, Annie Lou Dark Beliew of Memphis, Mildred Dark Walker of Nashville, and Sara Dark of Cocoa Beach, FL.
