Like a mirror image of the previous day, the Rockets followed a loss against a former 1A power with a matchup against a single A team from the Cumberland Plateau in Gordonsville (6-5), down from Smith County.

And like the day before, the Rockets bounced back from the earlier loss with a convincing win.

Forrest finished the game with 13 hits for six runs.

"We bounced back," Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. "Bounced back at the plate especially. We put six runs up and had several, one through nine through the line-up have some hits and that's what we've got to do."

"We've got to manufacture runs and hit singles and doubles and that's how we're gonna have to win ballgames."

The Rockets greet J.T. Ferguson at the plate after a fourth inning home run pushed the Forrest lead to 6-0.

The Rockets were led at the plate by J.T. Ferguson with three hits in four at-bats, including a home run.

Dustin Brashear, Jarvis Lyttle, Grayson Whaley and Drew Daughrity all finished with two hits apiece and Brashear, Lyttle, and Dylan Eady all picked up doubles.

The Rockets put Cody Sisk on the mound for his first-ever start and the underclassman delivered, finishing with just two hits and no runs in five innings of work.

Tyler Wildrick came in for the final two innings to pick up the save.

"Really my objective was to be spotting the ball because I can't blow by the batters like all of our other pitchers," Sisk said. "So I've really got to hit my spots and I did a pretty good job on it for the most part."

The Rockets had a big second inning with Whaley leading off with a single to left and Lyttle following with a double to the left/center fence.

The next two batters came up empty before Ferguson hit a two-out single into left field for a 2-0 lead.

Eady followed with a double deep to the left/center field fence to bring home two more runs and Brashear added a double to left to push the lead to 5-0.

The score remained the same through the next two innings as the Tigers left one stranded in the third and two more in the fourth before Ferguson led off the fourth inning for the Rockets.

On the first pitch of the inning, Ferguson sent a shot over the center field fence for a 6-0 Rocket advantage.

"That first pitch right there, he left it hanging," Ferguson said. "He grooved a fastball basically. He left it hanging and I jumped all over it. First pitch of the inning."

The Tigers put together a rally in the sixth inning with a Colin Howell RBI single to left field to trim the lead to 6-1.

With two outs and the bases loaded, Logan Hawks lined out to center field to end the game for the 6-1 Rocketsí win.
