Taylor Powers, a graduate from Cornersville High School, received the 2018 Marshall County Art Guild Scholarship. She always thought of art only as a hobby, but now that’s changed. Powers plans to attend Nossi: College of Art in the fall to pursue a graphic design degree.

“I want my art to impact someone. I want my art to matter,” Powers said.

Her style ranges from charcoal drawings to acrylics on canvas and even windows. Her art typically focuses on close-ups of still objects.

Even though Powers has only had two art classes her entire life, she is self-taught. Powers spends hours learning about art through the internet and the local art guild.

“She’s going to go somewhere with her art, I just know it,” President Felix Maxwell of the Marshall County Art Guild said.
