Night Out in Lewisburg Tuesday
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the event, celebrated on the first Tuesday of August every year.
This is the first Night Out Against Crime event for the Lewisburg Police Department. It will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. at Rock Creek Park.
The event was founded with the intention of strengthening the public’s trust in law enforcement and increase crime awareness.
“This is a chance for the community to get together, ask questions, let officers meet people, and see what law enforcement and emergency teams are all about,” Chief David Henley said.
National Night Out encourages residents to engage with local law enforcement. It is a chance for law enforcement and emergency teams to provide the public with helpful resources and build relationships. Not only that, but the community-building events fosters a feeling of togetherness by having the community to interact on a personal level with law enforcement.
Thousands of people participate in National Night Out from all fifty states. Communities host festivals, parades, and sometimes block parties.
Lewisburg Police Department is celebrating the event by providing food and fun.
The department will provide demonstrations and resources to the public and a selection of police, fire, and ambulance vehicles will be on display as well.
