Lady Rockets blanked by Cascade
The scoring woes continued for the Forrest Lady Rockets Tuesday at the Lions Club Memorial Field in Chapel Hill as the Cascade Lady Champions pitched a 7-0 shutout in their first game of the season.
Forrest (0-3) has been shutout in all three games it has played this season by a combined score of 10-0.
The Lady Rockets lost their season opener 1-0 to Loretto and Fairview blanked Forrest 2-0.
Chapel Hill had just three shots on goal the entire game versus Cascade, who scored the lone goal of the first half when Carmen Ray beat the Forrest keeper on a tough angle at the 18:37 mark.
Zoe Long had the only shot on goal for the Lady Rockets in the first half.
The Lady Champions tallied three quick second half goals with Kayden Fletcher going back-to-back on a penalty kick at the 30:50 mark and on a pretty corner kick goal with just over 35 minutes to play in the game.
Brooke Sudduth made it 4-0 on another penalty at the 30:33 mark and Forrest had a scoring chance with 25 minutes remaining in the game on a free kick, but the shot went wide right.
Kate Henke made it 5-0 at the 16:06 mark and Long had the Lady Rockets’ final scoring chance moments later, but Caroline McKamey stopped the blast to preserve the shutout.
Julie Slusher came up with a brace for the Lady Champions when she scored on back-to-back goals at the 6:46 and 2:11 marks of the District 6-A contest.
Forrest lost 2-1 at Fayetteville yesterday and hosts Richland on Thursday, August 30 with kickoff slated for 5:30 p.m.
