The FMS Lady Rockets hosted the LMS Tigerettes for an intra-county battle at Chapel Hill Tuesday night and in a low scoring affair, Forrest won 24-19.

LMS’ Caraline Hollingsworth, who nailed three 3-pointers in the game, was the only player in double figures in the contest with 11 points.

Mallory Woodward had six points and Kayla Keiler added a deuce for LMS.

Jayden Coleman (20) pulls up for a jumper in traffic.

Bethany Yates tallied nine points to lead FMS, while Jayden Coleman added six, Meagan Mealer netted four, Abby Davenport had one 3-pointer, and Abby Ferguson rounded out the Forrest scoring with two points.

Mealer hit a jumper in the lane to open the scoring before Hollingsworth nailed a trey to make it 3-2 and moments later the same duo duplicated the feat and LMS led 6-4.

There was no more scoring until Woodward hit one free throw early in the second quarter to make it 7-4.

Yates hit one of two from the three throw line with 3:13 left in the second quarter and Woodward made it a 9-5 contest when she connected on a field goal.

Davenport drained a long bomb for her only points of the game that cut the LMS lead to 9-8 and Yates gave FMS the halftime lead at 10-9 on a bucket in the low post.

Woodward tied the game at 10 from the free throw line to kick off the second half before Yates scored another basket to make it 12-10.

Caraline Hollingsworth (12) bangs down one of her three 3-pointers in the contest.

Hollingsworth rained home a 3-pointer from the wing to put the Tigerettes up 13-12 and Woodward followed with a basket to increase the LMS lead to 15-12 halfway through the third quarter.

Coleman came up with a short jumper to cut the Lewisburg lead to a single digit again, but a Keiler drive to the hoop reopened the three-point margin for LMS with 1:39 remaining in the third stanza.

With just seconds left in the period, Mealer scored in the low post to make it a one-point game, entering the final six minutes.

Lewisburg’s Kayla Keiler (4) looks for the shot in the second half versus FMS.

Yates gave FMS a 18-17 lead as she made one free throw both times on a pair of trips to the charity stripe and Mealer came up with a basket on a drive on the baseline to give the Lady Rockets a 20-18 lead with 2:15 remaining in the game.

Over two minutes ticked off the clock until Hollingsworth was able to make one free throw to slice the FMS lead to one at 20-19.

Ferguson came up with huge with her only bucket of the game to stretch the Forrest lead to 22-19 and after a Lewisburg turnover, Yates put the game away with a bucket in the low post to secure the five-point win.

The Lady Rockets hosted Moore County last night, travels to Huntland on Monday, and hosts Fayetteville next Thursday, while LMS travels to E.A Cox in a makeup game on Monday before entertaining Whitthorne on Thursday, November 15.
