A Lewisburg man was found shot to death Wednesday night in Johnson City, Tenn.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified Charles “Rooster” Shelton, 31, of Lewisburg as the victim of a shooting.

Deputies responded to a report of an altercation at 415 Cash Hollow Rd. in Johnson City at approximately 9 p.m. on last Wednesday.

Shelton was found at a neighboring piece of property.

Deputies also found Hailey Donald of Lewisburg at the scene. She had been shot as well but is currently recovering in a Johnson City hospital.

Police issued a bulletin on Thursday for a 2004 GMC Yukon with two windows shot out and possible bullet holes in the body.

The vehicle is registered to Jason Hargrove, also of Lewisburg.

The vehicle was found later in the day, abandoned in Johnson City.

Hargrove is being sought as a person of interest in the case.

Also being sought by authorities is the resident of the home where the incident took place.

“Somebody who was at the residence apparently was shooting at the vehicle as it was leaving,” Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said in a local interview. “He apparently stuck this rifle out a bedroom window and started shooting at the car as it was leaving.”

The incident is under investigation by Washington County authorities, with the assistance of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Services for Shelton were held on Monday.
