National Arbor Day is at the end of April but Lewisburg got a head start on the annual celebration, marking the day locally on Friday with the ceremonial planting of a Yoshino cherry tree on the square in front of the Courthouse Annex.

Members of city government, the city’s beautification committee, the Tree City board, and the Young Professionals, among others, braved the cool and damp for the event, underlining the city’s commitment to healthy urban forestry.
