Luther Jarrell Williams
Funeral services for Luther Jarrell Williams, 90, of Halls Mill community will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Phillip Crawley officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Mr. Williams departed this life Sunday, April 7, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born Sept. 16, 1928, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Luther Kendrick Williams and Katie Sue Noah Williams and was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Tommie Joe Williams; sisters, Mary Sue Coffey and Rose Higgins.
Mr. Williams was a life-long farmer who served on the Board of Directors of the Bedford CO-OP. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and attended the church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jewel Boyce Williams of Halls Mill; children, Vickie (William “Beaner”) Haskins, Jerry Williams and Judy (Stephen) Smith all of Halls Mill; sisters, Jean Wilson, Carol (Walter) Freeman all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Heather (Allen) Guffey of Bell Buckle, Jim Williams of Wheel, Katie Stacy of Halls Mill, Jarred and Caroline Smith of Halls Mill; six great- grandchildren.
