Walk Across Marshall this May
Walk Across Marshall is a short term individual walking program for all ages that will run May 1 -31.
When you register, select your personal mileage goal to walk an equivalent of either the width (13 mi.), length (33 mi.) or perimeter (66 mi.) of Marshall County over 4 weeks. Miles should be for the sake of fitness rather than everyday steps.
A kickoff event for the month will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 5:30 p.m. Walkers will gather at the pavilion in Rock Creek Park to start their journey.
Exercising for health isnít limited to heart pumping aerobic activity and competitive sports. According to research, people who engage in moderate exercise, such as walking, for at least 15 minutes a day tended to live an average of three years longer than their inactive peers. Along with helping to maintain weight, improve blood sugar and cholesterol levels, walking can enhance your mental wellbeing. Begin or continue your journey to better health with Walk Across Marshall. Sign up on Facebook @WalkAcrossMarshall or marshall.tennessee.edu and find community walking events in your area.
Healthier Marshall Committee members Angie Faulkner, Jennifer Pearson and Terri Orr take advantage of the nice spring weather to get outside for a walk around the square. This May, residents will have the opportunity to Walk Across Marshall with Healthier Tennessee as a way to promote fitness and wellbeing.
