Barbara West of Lewisburg passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. West was born on June 8, 1938, in Bedford County. She was a graduate of Columbia State Community College’s nursing program and worked at both Maury Regional Hospital and the Marshall County Health Department. Prior to that, Mrs. West was employed at Faber-Castell, Goggin and LTC Trucking Company. Mrs. West was a lifelong resident of Lewisburg and a dedicated member of Hickory Heights Church of Christ.
A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. West is survived by her daughter, Leslie West Sands and her husband, Lester Sands of Jackson, TN; son, Terry West of Bell Buckle, TN; five grandchildren, Joshua West of Knoxville, TN, Alex West and wife Allison West of Spring Lake, N.C., Jake West of Bell Buckle, TN, Jordana Sands of Knoxville, TN, and Paul Sands of Winston-Salem, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester West; her mother, Ruby Dean; her dad, Claude Dean; and her son, William Lance West.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home, located at 324 W. Church Street in Lewisburg, with a brief graveside service to follow at Lone Oak Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour.
In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives are invited to perform random acts of kindness in Mrs. West’s memory.
London Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
