Brittany Patricia Wood passed away on September 25, 2020, at the age of 30.

The family invited friends to join them in celebrating Brittany’s life on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Tennessee Walking Horse Association.

Brittany was born in Sacramento, CA and moved to Tennessee when she was four years old. She started her long love of learning in Lewisburg, where she started kindergarten. Brittany was a quick study and was able to excel in any subject she learned in school. She graduated early from Marshall County High School in 2007.

After Brittany graduated from high school, she went to Australia as an exchange student. This was the beginning of her interest in adventure and meeting new people. She returned home and enrolled in Huntsville, University of Alabama, where she studied Information Technology.

Brittany’s heart was big and she loved animals and helping people. Her dog, Marley, was an important part of her life for the last 10 years. Brittany understood the struggles of being human and was always willing to help others. She had endured her own challenges, which gave her clearer insight to the fears and complexities one faces, especially as she found her own place in the world.

Brittany had many passions early in her life including the love of music and festivals. She had a special connection to Bonnaroo and looked forward to finding a way to participate every year. Bonnaroo was the backdrop for her ceremony with the love of her life, Kevin Adkins. Brittany and Kevin were joined in a union in 2019 at Bonnaroo amidst 80,000 people atop a blue bus.

Her greatest passion was Aspen, her 9-month old daughter. She was an awesome and inspired mother, just blossoming into this new phase of her life. After Aspen was born, she became a large part of Brittany’s joy and happiness.

She was a natural beauty and Brittany will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Brittany leaves behind her beloved 9-month old daughter, Aspen, and the love of her life, Kevin Adkins. She is also survived by Emma, her 9-year old step-daughter and her parents Elizabeth and Michael Bensinger and William and Debbie Wood; her sister Chelsie Wood and grandmother, Carol DeBow; her many cousins and super involved and annoying aunts and uncles.
