BELL BUCKLE — It was a tough night on the diamond for the Cornersville Bulldogs on Tuesday night at Cascade.
Despite grabbing an early run in the first frame, Cascade plated four in the bottom of the first inning and scored five more in the fourth to take the 11-1 win over the Bulldogs.
Champion first baseman Walker Craig mashed two home runs and drove in five RBIs in the game.
Gage Lovell got the Bulldogs off to a seemingly strong start with a single to lead off the game.
He later scored on a single by Tanner Pease.
But things quickly took a turn in favor of the Champions.
Cascade drew back-to-back walks off Beau Schillig to lead off the bottom of the inning and then got on the board with an RBI double.
First baseman Walker Craig cleared the bases with a huge blast to center-right field.
Cascade got a fourth run of the night off a passed ball.
Cascade went on the pad its lead with RBI double in the second frame, but the crushing blow came in the fourth inning when the Champs plated five more runs.
Craig again came through with the Champions on another homer, this time a crushing three-run blast to put the game out of reach.
Starting Cascade pitcher Jaxon Sheffield ended the game in the fifth with an RBI single that reached the 10-run rule limit.
Cornersville managed just four hits off Sheffield, with Gage Lovell going 2-for-3 on the night.
Schillig went three innings and gave up 10 runs on eight hits before turning the mound over to Peyton Cherry.
Cherry pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and allowed one run on two hits.
The Bulldogs return home on Thursday evening and will host Culleoka at 6 p.m.
