Joan Walker Sands passed away April 9, 2022, at Saint Thomas West, at the age of 67.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband, Bryan Sands; brothers, Kenneth Walker and Steve (Jane) Walker; step-children, Ritchie (Kaye) Sands, Keith Sands, and April Rose (Sands); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Brandy (Dave) Moffo; two nephews and two nieces; three great-nephews and three great-nieces. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sara (Willie) Brannon and father, Eddie Walker.

Joan was very bright. She always had a smile on her face and willing to lend a helping hand. She loved her family dearly and welcomed everyone with open arms. Some of her favorite past times were spent watching Alabama football and fishing with her husband. She enjoyed collecting antiques. She had a huge heart for animals not just her own but every stray she came across. She was well known for her work in the Marshall and Giles county school systems as a dedicated teachers aid and previously employed at ICP for 25 years. The children adored her and she treated each and everyone of them as her very own. She loved the Lord and was a member of Lynnville’s Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 12 p.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home, 324 West Church Street, Lewisburg, Tennessee 37091, with burial to follow in Lynnwood Cemetery with Danny Jones officiating.

Visitation with the family will begin Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 10 a.m. and will continue until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

London Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
