CORNERSVILLE — After falling in their season opener on Monday, the Cornersville Lady ‘Dawgs responded with a monster win over Moore County on Tuesday, blasting the Raiderettes, 12-1 in five innings.
The Cornersville battery hammered out 11 hits, with Alicia Polk and Emma Ward both going 3-for-3 on the night.
Ward also drove in six runs and homered, and doubled.
Senior Alicia Polk also connected on a round-tripper and drove in four runs on the night.
The Lady ‘Dawgs scored in every run, except the fourth, and was highlighted by a five-run third inning.
While virtually everyone in the batting order got involved in the blowout win, it was Jayli Childress who kept the Raiderettes bats whiffing through all five innings.
She went the distance and gave up just one earned run on two hits, while striking out one.
The Lady ‘Dawgs will be back on their home field on Friday night, hosting Santa Fe at 5:30 p.m.
