Larry “Red” Simmons,76, resident of Belfast, died on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 11 AM at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 4 until 7 PM at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home.
Born on Nov. 17, 1944, in Kennett, MO, he was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy Simmons. He was a longtime employee of General Motors and retired from Saturn in 2000. Red was an avid sportsman and greatly enjoyed NASCAR, basketball, and football. He had a collection of memorabilia throughout the house.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Simmons of Belfast; son, Rodney (Dana) Simmons of Kissimme, FL; daughter, Felicia (Bill) Ekkert of Lockport, IL; brothers, Dennis Simmons, Dallas Simmons; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Tina Simmons of McMinnville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Frank Simmons and sister, Penny Simmons. Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
