Mrs. Mary Neely Whiteside Hopkins, 82, of the Laws Hill community of Marshall County, died Monday morning, Feb. 13, 2023, at her home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Maury County and was a daughter of the late James and Juanita Jackson Whiteside. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Neely Hopkins; and two sisters, Martha Jane Whiteside and Ella Ann Whiteside.
Mrs. Mary retired after 42 years as a school teacher in Williamson and Marshall counties. In addition to teaching, she along with her husband, Tex, also ran their family farm. Mrs. Hopkins was a member of Church Street Church of Christ in Lewisburg of which she was very active until her illness.
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tex Hopkins, Laws Hill comm.; sons, Richard (Melissa) Hopkins and James (Tiffany) Hopkins, both of the Laws Hill comm.; sister, Jamie (John) Langham, Daphne, AL; brother, Sam (Nina) Whiteside, Hampshire, TN; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Family members will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, from 9 until 11 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Ray Wakefield officiating.
