The Lewisburg Fire Department responded to Walmart at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday evening after a fire was reported in the store’s outdoor garden center area.
According to the fire department, the flames were extinguished in a matter of minutes. The sprinkler system in the area contributed to keeping the flames in check, prior to their arrival.
Due to the nature of the materials burning, outdoor rugs and lawn furniture cushions, the fire generated a great deal of smoke compared to the amount of flame.
No injuries were reported as the main part of the store was quickly evacuated and normal business resumed that night.
Fire fighters were on scene for approximately an hour.
At press time, the investigation into the cause of the fire was still underway.
