Talmadge Wade Loyd was welcomed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on May 24, 2022, at the age of 79.
Talmadge was born on Aug. 20, 1942, in Hickory, NC, but lived most of his life in Symsonia, KY and most recently in Chapel Hill, TN. He was a proud American and served in the U.S. Army for six years from 1959 to 1965. He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Shriners International. He loved to read the Bible and had a strong faith in God. He was an active member of Caney Spring Baptist Church and served as a deacon throughout his Christian ministry.
Talmadge was a loving husband of 54 years, father, granddaddy and great-granddaddy with a generous heart of gold, always putting others before himself. Because he was a big kid at heart, his family and friends adored him. He was known to be a jokester and for his jolly big smile and boisterous laugh. He had the deepest love for his wife and family, loved listening to oldies music, traveling and camping with his family and friends.
Everyone who knew Talmadge knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and generous person, and that he loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Eva (Tony) Jackson of Franklin, TN; his sons, Paul (Jenita) Loyd of Estill Springs, TN and Rick (Sharon) Loyd of Lake Wylie, SC; his five grandchildren, Zoe, Kyle, Kristen, Shelby, Jeffrey and five great grandchildren. He will forever be in their hearts and missed very much every day. He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Mark Loyd.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Benton, KY.
In lieu of flowers, Talmadge would want you to do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for a less fortunate soul in his name.
