Theresa Paulette Caneer, 79, a native of Marshall County, TN, died Dec. 17, 2021. She was born Feb. 4, 1942, to Willard A. and Hallie (Wise) McConnell who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frankie McConnell. She was a member of the Cornersville Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Foster Caneer, of Cornersville; two sons, Kenneth (Tammy) Caneer and Keith (Donna) Caneer, of Cornersville; nephew, David (Vickie) Caneer, of Lewisburg, whom she raised from early childhood; four grandchildren, Joey Caneer, Eric (Jeannie) Caneer, Chelsea (Matt) Owens, Cody Caneer and Jesse Charron; eleven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Webster of Cornersville and Shirley McCollum of Lewisburg, along with several nieces and nephews.

She worked in early years at the shirt factory at Robroy in Petersburg and as a phlebotomist at Marshall Medical Center. While working at Heil Quaker, she attended nursing school in Shelbyville at night to attain her LPN license and later became employed as plant nurse at Heil Quaker/Inter City Products in Lewisburg where she worked for many years. Upon leaving there she opened a daycare in her home where many local kids came to love and know her as Nanny. Along with public jobs, she worked extra hard for many years alongside her husband and family on the Caneer Farm always taking the time to prepare fresh meals for family and farm hands alike. In her home, everyone who came through the door was always treated like family. She was a loving wife, mother, nana to her grandchildren, aunt, sister and friend to many.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home, 310 North Main St., Cornersville, TN 37047 with burial to follow in Beechwood Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will begin on Monday evening, Dec. 20, 2021, from 4 until 8 p.m. and will continue Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of your choice.

Cornersville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
