COLUMBIA — Trey Warner and Eli Cross combined to pitch a shutout and lead Marshall County to a 1-0 win on Monday night at Columbia Central.
Warner pitched the first six innings, giving up just three hits, but striking out a pair of batters, while issuing five walks.
Cross pitched one inning in relief for the Tigers and didn’t give up a hit.
It was a true pitcher’s duel through much of the game and it took a bit of timely hitting for the Tigers to push a run across the plate.
Rob Hawkins was hit by a pitch to lead off the sixth inning and his courtesy base runner later scored on a double by James Hery.
That run stood as the only score of the game for either team.
