Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 7th, at 4 p.m. at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home with Linda Price officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Cemetery. Mr. William “Dooney” Ralph Thomas, 81, resident of Lewisburg, died on Friday, June 4, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 7th, at 4 p.m. at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home with Linda Price officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, June 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 2 p.m. until service time at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton.
A Maury County native, he was born on July 25, 1939, to the late John Morgan Thomas and the late Mattie Leonard Thomas. Dooney was a longtime horse trainer and retired employee of Heil Quaker. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coon hunting. Above all, he deeply loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Phifer Thomas; son, Bill (Lisa) Thomas of Lewisburg; daughters, Susan (Dave) Hunter and Traci (Todd) Houghton both of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Aaron (Aimee) Houghton, Chance (Christian) Childers, Jack Hunter, Lexi Thomas; great-grandchildren, Waylon Houghton, Ryker Childers, Raelyn Childers, and Nelly Childers. He is preceded in death by his brother, John “Bud” Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Mary Alice Erwin, Dot Mullins, Ara McCaleb; and granddaughter, Toni Marie Hunter.
