Willie Thomas Poteete, 75, resident of Lewisburg, died on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at NHC Oakwood. Born on August 19, 1945, in Culleoka, he was the son of the late Walter Bly Poteete and the Elizabeth Evone Crews Poteete. For several years, he was employed with Heil Quaker. He was a longtime Volkswagen mechanic and owner of Willie’s Bug Shop. Willie enjoyed horseback riding, riding motorcycles, camping, and boating.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Poteete; daughter, Pamela Denise Clifford; brother, Wesley (Nancy) Ray Poteete; sisters, Nell (Robert) Richmond, Viola (Freddie) George, and Emma (Danny) Spray; granddaughter, Brittany Mertens; two great-grandchildren; special niece, Shelia Chilton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Poteete will be conducted on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 11 AM with Chester Slayton officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 4 until 7 PM at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901. Honorary Pallbearers include Jason Poteete, Jonathan Poteete, Brent Smith, Billy Smith, Mike Snodgrass, Matt Snodgrass, and Caleb Whaley.
