The Recycling Committee here is proceeding with the purchase of 1,000 recycling carts for use at households in the southwest part of town during a pilot program starting this spring. Otto Environmental Systems of Charlotte, N.C., was found to be the low bidder for the carts. They're large green rubber-like plastic barrels with two wheels, a handle and a lid. Recyclable paper, metal and plastic are to be placed in the carts for pickup on Wednesdays starting April 23... more
