In 1979, South Tennessee Oil Company established Quik Mart #10, a convenience store with gasoline, on the corner of North Ellington Parkway and Nashville Highway in Lewisburg. The store occupied that corner, where Walgreen's is now located, until 1998. H. C. Edwards, Jr. leased the corner from Bay Roberts. He spent $35,000 on a metal building and $35,000 on pumps, tanks and canopy for fuel... more

Tennessee's tire disposal fee is going up 35 percent because of a law passed by the General Assembly that's awaiting the governor's signature. Marshall County Sessions Court Judge Steve Bowden on Tuesday lifted an order protecting horses that had allegedly suffered abuse, according to the owner's attorney and a sheriff's deputy. Derrick Ulmers of Eagleville Pike told court officers that he has property at Shelbyville where he will move some of the horses and that he plans to sell the rest, Deputy Sean Sweeney said, adding that Ulmers' case will be called again at a later date... more

Marshall County Boy's State delegates attended the number one Boys' State program in the nation, which included visits from a NASA astronaut and the Tennessee Supreme Court. NASA astronaut Lt. Comm.
