NASHVILLE - The state announced Monday that the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, which includes National Guard troops from Lewisburg, will be returning home earlier than scheduled.
No exact date has been announced for the return of the troops, but the entire 278th is expected to be home by the end of August. Soldiers from armories in Maryville, McKenzie and Henderson were scheduled to arrive in two flights on today, with the rest of the statewide unit demobilizing in groups between now and August.
