The Elks and A-Plus kicked off a Babe Ruth League doubleheader Monday night at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Babe Ruth Field in Lewisburg and they only got in five innings before heavy storms cancelled the rest of the action for the night.

Grayson Miller picked up a complete game on the mound in the five-inning, rain shortened game, giving up seven runs (3 earned) on six hits, while striking out 11 and walking zero Elks’ batters.

A-Plus had eight hits in the game with Trey Warner leading way via a 3-for-4 night at the plate.

Ashton Grubbs had two hits and Daniel Sellars, Caleb McElhaney, and Bryndon Wilson all had one hit apiece.

Eight errors in the field and 11 walks issued by two pitchers hurt the Elks.

Tristan Griggs went 2-for-3 for the Elks and Kyrklinn Wunderlin, Thomas Beech, Carson Cheek, Micah Riddle, and Garrett Mead all had one hit apiece.

The second game scheduled for Monday that pitted Marshall Medical Center versus Nichirin will be made up on Wednesday.

There will be a doubleheader on Thursday and on Monday, June 24 the final two regular season games will be played, followed by closing ceremonies.
