Arbor Day declared for Lewisburg
Lewisburg Mayor Jim Bingham (seated) signs a proclamation declaring Friday, March 3 as Arbor Day in the city. In Tennessee, Arbor Day falls on the first Friday in March, as opposed to national Arbor Day which occurs on the last Friday in April. The city will mark the occasion with a tree planting at Marshall County High School on Friday. Friday is also the deadline to enter the Lewisburg Tree City USA board’s Big Ole Tree contest, for the largest trees of each species in the city. Pictured to the left of Bingham is Tree City USA board chair Andrea Childress, to the right is Mike Wiles, director of the Joint Economic and Community Development Board for Marshall County.
