Two important meetings for local farmers and cattle growers will be held by the University of Tennessee Agriculture Extension in September.
Pesticide recertification
UT Extension Marshall County will be offering Pesticide Recertification meetings. These meetings are offered for individuals that certified as a Private Applicator that have a card for the purchasing of restricted pesticides and herbicides. Renewal is every three years and the expiration date is on October 21, 2017.
Recertification meetings will be offered on Thursday September 28, 2017, at the UT Extension Marshall County Office located at 230 College Street in Lewisburg.
There will be two times in which an individual can attend at either noon or 5:30 p.m.
All meetings will last approximately an hour. The cost for the meeting is $25 per individual. These meetings are only for individuals who already have a Private Applicator card. Herbicide stewardship and applicator safety will be emphasized.
Beef Quality Assurance Certification
Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification trainings will be conducted by UT Extension Marshall County on September 19, 2017.
Producers can choose to come to either of the trainings at noon or 5:30 p.m. This training will benefit cattle producers by illustrating important concepts in herd health, management, transportation and philosophy.
Also, this session is important for individuals wishing to take advantage of the funds available for hay barns, livestock equipment, and cattle genetics through the Tennessee Agriculture Enhancement Program (TAEP).
The fees for the BQA training is $20 for Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association members and $40 for non-members. These certification is good for three years.
