Over the top
"The kids have been close to winning their last two matches so it was nice to get a win. We're excited to face Columbia Academy on Thursday. They usually have a strong team so it should be a good test," said CHS coach Joy McMasters.
Senior Tate Lowery recorded the best round of the day and led Cornersville by shooting a three-over par 24. The Bulldogs could then take their pick for the second and third best scores on the team, as Colby Downs, Matthew Karban, and Blake Calahan each carded a 26. J.D. also tallied a 29 for CHS.
"I think the playing on their home course gave them confidence and they played well today before it started raining. I would have loved to have finished the match and see what they would have ended up shooting," said McMasters.
Tiger leader
Cole Hutcheson was the low man for Mt. Pleasant and paced the Tigers with a 27. Bobby Hickman followed Hutcheson with a 36, while Mason Cothran turned in a 40.
After facing Columbia Academy at Graymere Country Club on Thursday afternoon, Cornersville will compete in the first leg of the Gary Wells Cup next Monday when they take on the Marshall County Tigers and Forrest Rockets at Henry Horton State Park.
