The Cornersville Bulldogs golf team ran their record to 3-2 on the season when they defeated Mt. Pleasant by forfeit after the Tigers brought just one player to the Lewisburg Recreation Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Although they had secured the victory before the match even started, the Bulldogs remained focused on the golf course and posted a season low score of 174 after adding up the four best rounds of the day.
"They've been working hard and have been out there every day trying to get better," said Cornersville interim coach Eric Crabtree. "We've slowly improved as the season has gone along."

Improving
"They've been working hard and have been out there every day trying to get better," said Cornersville interim coach Eric Crabtree. "We've slowly improved as the season has gone along."
Junior Tate Lowery continued his steady play for CHS and shot a Improvingseason low 39 to lead the way for the Bulldogs, while sophomore J.D. Crabtree turned in the best performance of his Cornersville golf career and finished with a 40.
"Tate and J.D. were both solid today. They kept the ball in the fairway and putted well. They played good, consistent golf," said Eric Crabtree.
Colby Downs and Matthew Karban also carded a 47 and a 48 respectively, while Justin Singleton tallied a 51. Blake Calahan and Zack Smith both turned in a 52 for the Bulldogs as well.
Cole Hutchinson was Mt. Pleasant's lone representative in the match and notched a 47.
After playing Marshall County and Forrest in the first leg of the Gary Wells Cup on Thursday at Henry Horton State Park, Cornersville will take on their county rivals again next Tuesday at the Lewisburg Recreation Center in the second leg before wrapping up the event at Saddle Creek Golf Course the following day.
