CORNERSVILLE — It was a tipsy-turvey game that saw Cornersville rally past Community on Monday night in a 7-5 win over the Vikings.
Beau Schillig and Ayden Campbell each drove in a pair of runs as the Bulldogs were able to plate five runs in the final two innings to take the non-district win.
Schillig put the Bulldogs on the board in the third inning with a two-out, two-run double to left.
That 2-0 lead held until the fifth when Community finally got on the board with back-to-back doubles and a RBI off the bat of James Beech to take a 4-2 lead over Cornersville.
But as quickly as the Vikings grabbed a two-run lead, the Bulldogs answered with a four-spot of their own and promptly retook the lead in the fifth.
Gage Lovell and Colyn Schillig both walked to lead off the fifth and Daniel Sellars smacked a RBI double to left for the first score of the frame.
Tanner Pease tied it at four with a ground ball single to left before Campbell plated two on a single to left.
The Vikings added one in the top of the sixth, but Colyn Schillig was able to score on an error in the bottom of the sixth for the final run of the game.
Colyn and Beau Schillig each connected for two hits to help lead the Bulldogs at the plate.
