The Marshall County Commission approved one time bonuses for most county employees at its Monday night meeting.
Full time employees will receive $3,500 and part time employees working at least 12 hours per week should receive the bonus payments in April.
To be eligible, employees must have been hired prior to January 1 and still be employed as of April 1.
Elected or appointed officials whose salaries are set by state law and county commissioners, not employed by the county, were not included in the bonus.
Funds for the bonus, which total approximately $780,000, come from federal American Rescue Plan grants aimed at economic stimulus and infrastructure projects in the wake of two years of the COVID pandemic. Bonuses for employees after two years of challenging circumstances have been a popular way that local governments have used some of the funds.
The rest of the brief agenda concerned various tweaks to the county budget.
Commissioners approved Highway Department funds to allow for paving along Ball Lane, Thick Road, and Old Highway 99.
Adjustments were made to some departments to account for the sale of surplus equipment.
The commission also separated budget lines for the Human Resources Department, approved as a stand alone department at last month’s meeting, from the Budget Office funds.
The commission increased the county coroner budget due to more autopsies being performed so far this year that originally budgeted for in July.
