• The Marshall County Soil Conservation District will be holding its annual tree giveaway this spring. Loblolly Pine, Southern Red Oak, and Virginia Christmas Pine trees will be available. If you are interested in receiving free trees, please contact the District at (931)359-6268 Ext. #3. We are not Tree City or Friends of Horton Park who also sale/giveaway trees. We are the original annual tree giveaway in Marshall County and need to continue to notify the public each year.

• ATTENTION DOG AND CAT OWNERS: Tennessee State Law requires that all dogs and cats that are 6 months and older be vaccinated against the rabies virus. During the month of April, participating veterinarians in the local area will offer a discounted rate on vaccinations. Each pet owner will receive a certificate of vaccination and a 2017 rabies tag.

• There will be a meeting of the Tree City Advisory Board on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 - 4 p.m. at Lewisburg City Hall, 131 East Church Street in the downstairs conference room.

• The Animal Control Committee will meet Thursday, April 6, 2017, at 6 p.m. This meeting will be held at the Courthouse Annex kitchen area Room 2209.

• The Town of Cornersville will have its regular meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on April 6, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at Cornersville Town Hall. This meeting is open to the public and all citizens are welcome.

• The JECDB Executive Board Committee of the Marshall County Joint Economic and Community Development Board will meet at 8:15 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Columbia State Community College – Lewisburg site in Room 122.

• There will be a meeting of the Airport Board of the City of Lewisburg on Monday, April 10, 2017 - 6 p.m., at Ellington Airport, 1877 Franklin Pike.

• The Mayor and Council of the City of Lewisburg will hold their regular monthly meeting, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 - 6 p.m. at Lewisburg City Hall, 131 East Church Street.

• The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Monday, April 17, 2017, at 9 a.m. at Village Manor.

• The Lewisburg Recreation Board will hold a meeting Monday, April 17, 2017, 6 p.m., at the Lewisburg Recreatin Center, in the small meeting room.

• Marshall County Schools will have the second kindergarten registration for 2017-2018 at the following: Lewisburg routes, Oak Grove Elementary School, 1645 Franklin Pike, Lewisburg - April 19, 2017, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Cornersville routes, Cornersville Elementary School, 485 N Main Street, Cornersville - April 19, 2017, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• The South Central Human Resource Agency Head Start/Early Head Start Policy Council Meeting will be at 10:30 a.m., April 20, 2017, at the South Central Human Resource Agency Central office in Fayetteville, TN.

• The Marshall County Retired Teachers Association is offering two types of scholarships to students planning to go into the teaching profession. One is for high school students planning to major in the field of teaching. The other is for college juniors/seniors who are majoring in education. Either of the applications may be picked up at any of the three county high school guidance departments. The college applications are also available at the public library. The deadline for application submission is April 21, 2017.
