The Summit Spartans golf team turned in an impressive performance on the links this past Tuesday, as they handily defeated the Cornersville Bulldogs (0-4) at the Lewisburg Recreation Center.
Summit posted the four lowest rounds of the match en route to shooting 162 as a team, while Cornersville finished with a score of 210.

The Summit Spartans golf team turned in an impressive performance on the links this past Tuesday, as they handily defeated the Cornersville Bulldogs (0-4) at the Lewisburg Recreation Center.
Summit posted the four lowest rounds of the match en route to shooting 162 as a team, while Cornersville finished with a score of 210.
Casey Szatkowski was the lone Spartan player to break 40 in the match and shot a 39 over nine holes. Sean Samuels followed Szatkowski with a 40, while Grant Robison and Skylar Cochran carded a 41 and a 42 respectively.
Taylor Carlton played his best round of the season and led the Bulldogs with a 48. Jacob Griffis tallied a 49 for Cornersville as well, while Tate Lowery and J.D. Crabtree notched a 53 and a 60 respectively.
"Summit just outplayed us. They're short game was on today and ours was not," said CHS interim coach Eric Crabtree. "Taylor had a fantastic day. He never got rattled and had a solid performance."
In the girls match, Summit came away with the victory and finished with a team score of 91 after taking the top two rounds from three players. The Lady Bulldogs were 20 strokes off the pace and ended the day with a 111.
Reilly Bethmann paced the Lady Spartans with a 44 and Anna Horn carded a 47.
Samantha Reese led Cornersville with a 55, while Kaitlyn Rogers tallied a 56.
After facing Hickman County on Thursday, CHS will take on area rivals Forrest and Marshall County at Saddle Creek Golf Course next Tuesday in the second leg of the Gary Wells Cup.
