Nine Marshall County student athletes were recently honored with spring sports all state selections, led by five members of the 2014-2015 Class A state champions Forrest Lady Rockets.

Forrest's domination in Class A was evident by five members of the team being selected by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA).

Senior Kiyoko Puca (CF) and sophomores Samantha King (1B) and Lainey Mays SS) were chosen by the TSWA, while seniors Katie Warrick (P) and Briar Mays (LF) were also first-team selections on the Tennessean All-Mid-state Team.

Warrick, who won back-to-back District 9-A MVP awards, will continue her playing career at UT Martin, while Briar Mays will attend Roane State to play softball.

Forrest

The Lady Rockets claimed their second Class A title, going undefeated at the Spring Fling, while posting a 35-5 record and Forrest never lost to another Class A squad during the season.

All five Forrest softball players were also named to the All District 9-A squad.

Forrest junior Alex Brewer (SS), a two-time District 9-A MVP and Vanderbilt signee garnered three post-season honors with his selections to the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association (TBCA), the Tennessean Mid-State and the TSWA.

Cornersville

Cornersville ace, District 11-A MVP and Columbia State Community College signee David Looney picked up All-State honors with the TBCA and the TSWA.

The county had a clean sweep in Class A behind the plate as Cornersville senior Aaron Fox and Forrest junior Boone Sweeney claimed the only two catchers' spots.
