Arrested and charged with aggravated assault

* Jeremy T. McElhaney, 33, Church Road. Bond: $3,000; court date: June 4.
Thefts and vandalism reported
* A 2003 Kia Optima, worth $3,300, and two car seats in the rear of it, worth $385, were set on fire about 9 p.m. April 29, while it was parked at a home in Chapel Hill where the owner was babysitting. Neighbors told Fire Chief Kenneth Runk they saw a black SUV in the area. Later the property owner discovered an unknown substance had been put in the gas tank of his Pontiac, but at the time Marshall County Sheriff's Detective Capt. Bob Johnson made his report it was not known how much the damage would cost to repair.
* Between 6 p.m. April 29 and 8 a.m. April 30, a 14-foot black metal tilt trailer with a wooden floor and dented fender wells, worth $1,350, and wooden studs, chains and miscellaneous building materials that were in the trailer, worth $400, were stolen from outside a house being remodeled on Nashville Highway.
* During the week of Jan. 5, someone entered a 2012 GMC Suburban while it was parked at Needmore Ice on Darnell Mealer Road and took $550 cash and a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson Model 638 five-shot handgun, serial number DAZ3082, worth $500. The owner reported the theft to law enforcement at the time, wrote Lewisburg Police Officer John Christmas, but the report wasn't taken because the victim did not have the gun's serial number. The owner found the serial number on May 4 when he was going through some paperwork.
* Between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. May 1, a 2007 Nissan was scratched all down both sides with a metal object while it was parked at Ridgetop Apartments. The damage will cost an estimated $1,000 to repair.
* A Lewisburg man reported to police he woke up the morning of April 29 to find the back window of his Cadillac Escalade smashed, and what looked like sugar around the gas cap. The window will cost $500 to replace, but it was unknown at the time of Lewisburg Police Officer Clint Newbill's report whether the fuel system was damaged.
* A Lewisburg woman reported to Marshall County Sheriff's Department that she left $400 for her brother in his truck May 3, but when he went to get the money, it was gone.
* A Lewisburg woman reported $146 missing from her purse. The money was in her purse at 6 p.m. April 23 the victim told Lewisburg Police Officer Shaun Crawford, but she noticed it missing when she went to work the next morning.
* A black Walkman MP3 player worth $110 was stolen from a room at Marshall Medical Center between 1:30 and 3 p.m. May 1.
* A Lewisburg woman reported to police she bought a Verizon LG cell phone for $85 in the Kroger parking lot, but when she tried to activate it through Verizon, they told her the phone had been reported stolen.
* On March 21, a Merrick Bank credit card number was used to charge a $42.03 purchase at Stan McNabb. The card's owner told Lewisburg Police Officer Shaun Crawford he was in jail that day, so there was no way he could have used his card.
* On May 2, two men drove off from Tiger Market without paying for $30 worth of gas they put in a black pickup truck. At the time Lewisburg Police Officer Charles Brannan wrote his report, the opening manager was not available to access the security camera that may have captured the truck's license number.
