The man applied for a loan at Ascend Federal Credit Union and was turned down because of his credit history. When he obtained a copy of his credit report from Equifax he found that between April and July 2011 seven credit cards, a Verizon Wireless account, and two other accounts had been opened using his Social Security number. ...

A 23-year-old Lewisburg man who is home on leave from the Marine Corps reported to police his identity had been stolen. The man applied for a loan at Ascend Federal Credit Union and was turned down because of his credit history. When he obtained a copy of his credit report from Equifax he found that between April and July 2011 seven credit cards, a Verizon Wireless account, and two other accounts had been opened using his Social Security number. The account balances total $8,413.36. The victim told Lewisburg Police Officer Mike Davis "during the time period that said accounts were opened he was serving a tour in Afghanistan and ... there was no way he could have opened these accounts, much less make said purchases while deployed."

Thefts and vandalism reported

* From September to November an 84-year-old Lewisburg woman told police she sent $6,000 to what she believed was Publishers Clearing House in order to claim the car and $3 million she was told she had won.

* A gold 1915 Liberty coin pendant and a gold chain, worth a total of $3,500, were reported missing on Nov. 6 by a Lewisburg woman. The victim told Lewisburg Police Officer Amanda Binkley she kept the necklace in a blue velvet pouch zipped into a pocket inside her purse, and the last time she saw the necklace was on Oct. 31.

* Between 1:30 and 7:10 a.m. Nov. 9, someone forced their way into a house on Mooresville Highway through the back door, ransacked the home, and took a number of items. The house was broken into again, this time through the front door, between 5:30 and 11:55 a.m. the next day, and a Kenmore washing machine and an electric stove were taken. In the first burglary a black Xbox 360, an orange Fender Squire guitar, a Hotpoint clothes dryer, a Sentry safe full of personal items, a black cane with a silver handle, and a Dynex DVD player were taken. Marshall County Sheriff's Department Detective Chad Bass reported it looked as if a truck had been pulled up to the back of the house. A yellow claw hammer which might have been used on the back door was found on the ground and taken into evidence. Total value of the missing items, plus the cost of repairing the doors, was estimated at $1,630.

* A Chapel Hill man reported to Marshall County Sheriff's Department a safe and a fireproof box had been taken from his house, and in them were a diamond ring, cash, .22 caliber ammunition, a Ruger MDL 72 .22 caliber pistol, and a CO2 pistol. Total value of the missing items was estimated at $1,440.

*On Nov. 5, a Lewisburg woman was away from her car for 10 or 15 minutes while it was parked at Saddlewood Apartments, where she lives, and during that time her purse was stolen from the car. The purse contained $800, a Social Security card, a Visa credit card, a check book, and some jewelry. Total value of the purse and missing items, excluding the cash, was estimated at $290.

* A Lewisburg man reported to police someone used his American Express card number on Nov. 5 and 7 to make purchases totaling $945.10 at an Orvis store in Virginia.

* The mailbox at Spring Place Auto Sales was damaged when a large SUV struck it at 5:25 a.m. Nov. 7. This was recorded on surveillance video. The mailbox will cost $300 to replace.

* A 24-foot Werner aluminum extension ladder worth about $300 was reported missing from a job site on South Berlin Road on Nov. 12.

* Between 11:30 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. Nov. 5, a Lewisburg woman's purse was stolen out of her car while it was parked at her home on Maple Street. Also missing are a bag full of baby toys and a Garmin GPS system. The purse contained a driver's license and an Ascend Federal Credit Union ATM card. Total value of the missing items was estimated at $192.

Arrested and charged with burglary and auto burglary

* Donna Gay Harold Coulter, 50, Columbia. Bond: $18,000; court date: Dec. 17. Coulter was caught about 4:45 a.m. Nov. 7 at a home in Chapel Hill, where she allegedly tried to get into the house, and also went into the garage shop and got in and out of four vehicles.

Arrested and charged with vandalism over $500

* Jessica D. Young, 26, Franklin Road. Bond: $1,000; court date: Dec. 2. Young allegedly "trashed" the apartment she shared with another woman, breaking all the picture frames and a book shelf, cutting up the other woman's underwear, and taking most of her clothes. Total value of the damage was estimated at $740.

Arrested and charged with aggravated burglary

* Leslie Ann Silva, 30, Chapel Hill. Bond and court date not stated. Property stolen from a home on Holly Grove Road was recovered.

Arrested on a bench warrant from Circuit Court

* Rodney L. Harris, 33, Chapel Hill. Held without bond for court on Nov. 20.

Arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence

* Marcus O. Norman, 36, Columbia. Bond: $16,000; court date: Jan. 7.

Arrested and charged with assault and resisting arrest

* James M. Durant, 71, Cornersville. Bond: $15,000; court date: Dec. 17.

As a result of a domestic incident on Nov. 10, the following arrests were made

* Dedrick O. Ewing, 34, Silver Street. Bond: $7,500; court date: Dec. 9. Charge: aggravated domestic assault.

* Tamecia M. Ewing, 34, Silver Street. Bond: $2,000; court date: Dec. 9. Charges: resisting arrest and filing a false report.

Arrested on a warrant for aggravated domestic assault

* Norris A. Endsley III, 26, Silver Creek Road. Bond: $7,500; court date: Dec. 2.

Arrested and charged with domestic assault

* Joshua L. Horne, 25, Pine Cone Drive. Bond: $1,000; court date: Dec. 2.

* James C. Childress, 37, Brents Road. Bond: $1,000; court date: Dec. 2.

* Debra G. Burns, 61, Chapel Hill. Bond and court date not stated. Additional charge: filing a false report. Burns allegedly set off the ADT alarms at her home, causing the fire department, ambulance service, and Sheriff's Department to rush to her house, "endangering the lives of emergency responders," according to the report by Marshall County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Harden.

Arrested and charged with driving under the influence

* Erin C. Tucker, 35, Fox Lane. Bond: $6,000; court date: Jan. 20. Additional charges: leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident. This is allegedly Tucker's fourth DUI. Tucker admitted pulling out of the drive-through line at Taco Bell and hitting the building, causing "major damage," according to reports by Lewisburg Police Officer Shaun Crawford.

* Frank M. Black, 59, Pulaski. Bond: $2,000; court date: Dec. 2. Additional charge: violation of the implied consent law.

* Jeffrey D. Webb, 47, Fayetteville. Bond: $1,000; court date: Dec. 9.

Arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license

* Jessica G. Ruiz, 30, Franklin Avenue. Bond: $1,000; court date: Dec. 2. Also cited for failure to provide proof of insurance and equipment violation (no rear-view mirror). This is allegedly Ruiz's second driving-on-revoked charge.

* Carissa M. Tolliver, 30, Maple Street. Bond: $1,000; court date: Dec. 9. Additional charge: possession of drug paraphernalia. Also cited for speeding.
