After the FMS girls suffered a tough 34-31 come from behind loss versus Eagleville, the Forrest boys got trampled 41-13 by the Eagles Monday night at Chapel Hill.
The Lady Rockets led for almost the entire game as FMS beat Eagleville in every quarter except one, the pivotal fourth period when the Lady Eagles outscored Forrest 16-7 to steal the win.
Bre’Ana Cannon took over the game in the final period, scoring 10 out her game-high 15 points for Eagleville.
Forrest led 15-11 at halftime and took a 24-18 lead into the fourth quarter after Anilee Dippold’s six third quarter points, plus a 3-pointer by Macyn Kirby.
Dippold led FMS in scoring with 13 points in the contest.
FMS increased its lead to 10 points on back-to-back buckets by Carli Warner and Kirby early in the final period before Eagleville stormed back with an 11-0 run.
Eliza McClaran began the run with a 3-pointer before Cannon scored eight consecutive points to put the Lady Eagles in front 29-28 with 2:55 left in the game.
One Dippold free throw tied the game, but Eagleville scored five straight to put the game away.
The Forrest boys led Eagleville 4-3 after a Keaton Curtis 3-pointer and one free throw by Tayton Swift before the Eagles scored the final seven points of the first quarter for a 10-4 lead.
Eagleville added 10 more points in the second period, while the Rockets managed just a three-point play the old-fashioned way by Swift in the post as Chapel Hill trailed 20-7 at the half.
The third period was a disaster for the Rockets as they tallied one point on a single free throw by Ryan Meglis.
Eagleville scored 12 in the third stanza as Isaac Pettit and Ben Thompson knocked in four points apiece, while Rhett Deaton buried a 3-pointer, and Jordan Reed hit one free throw.
The Eagles also won the fourth quarter, outscoring FMS 9-8 to take the win.
Swift led the Rockets with four points, Curtis had the one 3-pointer, Bob Ford scored a deuce, and Kelley Toombs, Meglis, Bray McCown, and Caleb Kirksey all had a single marker.
Kaden Snitzer led the Eagles with a dozen points, Pettit scored 10, Deaton five, Reed and Thompson had four points apiece, and Josh Jeffcoat, Ethan Emamalio, and Grey Barker all netted two points.
